Oak Learning Partnership is our admissions authority but they delegate responsibility for allocating places to Blackburn Central High School to the local authority, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.

To be able to apply for a place in a Blackburn with Darwen school, you must be resident in Blackburn with Darwen. If you live outside the borough, you must apply through your home authority.
School admissions for September 2025
The deadline for applying for a secondary school place for September 2025 is 31 October 2024. If you apply after this date, it can severely reduce your chances of obtaining a place at our school.

School appeals
If your child is not offered a place at their chosen high school, you can appeal against that decision to an independent appeal panel. Request an appeal form by phoning Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council on 01254 666605 or by visiting School appeals | Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. Once you have completed your form, please return it to the council.
